"Bob stood underneath the white oak (his favorite kind of all) and said it was a good tree and then 'I don't think your grandpa figured that you were going to get engaged under it when he planted it.' Bob then got down on one knee and pulled out a ring from his pocket and started to ask Julia if she would marry him. Julia did not let him finish before she shouted 'YES!'"
It's fairly obvious when a couple has that special something that will last a lifetime. Bob and Julia definitely do, and we're so honored that we could help them coordinate and celebrate their big day along with their friends and family this October.
The Ceremony
Les Bourgeois, a riverside winery in Rocheport, Missouri, was the perfect location for Julie and Bob's outdoor fall wedding. The day before had been gloomy and rainy, so everyone was more than pleased that we were blessed with a warm breeze and clear sunny skies for Bob & Julia's special day. Shepherd's hooks adorned with hanging mason jars full of baby's breath and tiny white pumpkins at their base lined the aisle leading up to the bluff top for the couple's outdoor ceremony. Our Kona Wood Arbor was draped in our white voile linens, and a garland of fresh seeded eucalyptus and baby's breath - carefully hung by Lisa, our lead weddings and events coordinator and Kathy from Hyvee Floral Department.
The Reception
Following the ceremony the newlyweds welcomed guests in a short receiving line where hugs and congratulations were exchanged. Cocktail hour consisted of drinks, appetizers, and a sweet platter of desserts that the bride was sure to include for those of us with a little bit of a sweet tooth. Les Bourgeois provided all of the above and it was nothing short of amazing and delicious. My personal favorite was the gooey butter cake bites.
The couple made a casual Grand Entrance following their wedding party portrait session, and shortly after a delicious BBQ buffet dinner was served by Les Bourgeois staff. Guests enjoyed themselves, heard heart-warming toasts by the Groom's Brother/Best Man, Maid of Honor, and Bride's Father, and the couple shared their first dance, and special dances before the dance party began.
First Dance: “Gentle on my Mind” - John Hartford
Father/Daughter: “Last Date” - Floyd Kramer
Mother/Son: “Have I Told You Lately That I Love You” - Van Morrison
The Food
Instead of cutting a cake the couple cut and served pies during the reception. Appropriately, “Apple, Peaches, Pumpkin Pie” by Jay and the Techniques played during the pie cutting and the couple's first bites. And of course the pies were accompanied with ice cream. Yum!
Here's a look at some of the scrumptious appetizers from Les Bourgeois.
Sunset Session
As the sun set over the Missouri River, the couple went outside to catch the last of the day's warm glowing light. They danced under the ceremony arbor and embraced after a long, fun filled day.
Congratulations again Bob & Julia! Thanks for choosing us to coordinate and celebrate with you on your big day.
